I have painted flowers for as long as I have been painting. I return to this motif again and again. I am drawn to the idea of arranged nature in decay — the beauty of a moment held just before it fades.
This arrangement was made from flowers gathered in my own garden and placed on my kitchen table. One morning, as I sat there drinking my coffee, the dark shadow suddenly revealed itself. Painting, for me, is a way of staying present.
