DrawingsI draw, often rooted in nature, often with myself in my underwear — the female body, not as an ideal of beauty, not as something sensual, but as part of the cycle it belongs to. A body that, throughout art history, has so often been seen through the male gaze — here reclaimed as lived, present, and its own.

A black-and-white drawing of my body, floating beneath something like a lunar eclipse.
I draw myself as a woman, in the middle of life, in the midst of magic.

I have drawn the mask I wear as often as you do.
We are only human, after all

In 2019, I was awarded a residency at the Danish Institute in Rome.
I traveled there to portray myself in my underwear, standing beside Roman statues and paintings.
This drawing depicts one of my favorite fountains in the city.
The gods and the men are visited by the ordinary female body—mine.

I see with my hand. I touch the animals—both small and large—and they help me remain connected to who we are.

I draw with ink on watercolour paper, allowing the materials to speak in their own language alongside my more controlled lines. I often draw my own body, wearing only underwear, placed within a natural and slightly magical environment.
I’m interested in depicting the female body as seen by the woman herself. Throughout art history, the female form has so often been shaped by the male gaze, often with a sensual undertone. I want to offer another way of seeing—one that holds both strength and softness.
To me, the female body is both powerful and magical. It can give birth, and it can feel as light as a feather.

Every day counts.
I am a sober alcoholic, and I have been for over eleven years.
We say that every day counts—one day at a time, without taking the first drink.
This drawing is a reminder of that.
Of pushing the darkness away.
Some days we judge, pointing.
Some days we wait, fingers tapping on the table.
Some days we reach for the light above.
A reminder that every day matters—as long as I keep counting.
